The Wisconsin immunization law was changed in 2008. Two different vaccine requirements were added. Parents of incoming 6th grade students are required to have their children vaccinated or claim a waiver before the 2022-23 fall semester.

The requirements are:

• 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap).

• 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.

There are some exceptions to these requirements. If your child has already received any tetanus-containing vaccine within 5 years of September 1, 2012, a Tdap is not required. If your child has had chickenpox, the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine is not required.
