WCA TESTNG GUIDELINES

TIMED AND RANDOMIZED

To reinforce the academic integrity of the curriculum and its assessment, Connections Academy has created randomized and timed assessments for different courses for students in grades 6-12.

Unit test questions for language arts and math in grades 6-12 will be randomized.  If students print an assessment to take on paper first, they must keep the browser window open.  As long as the browser window remains open, students should be able to enter the answers into Connexus without being affected by the randomized questions.

Assessments for science and social studies at the high school level only will be timed. Below are some highlighted points in regards to this type of assessment.

  • Applies to unit tests and semester finals only

  • Timing will be from 40 to 150 minutes

  • Before a student begins, the number of questions and time allowed will be displayed

  • A timer will be visible to students

  • Answers will be submitted (and automatically saved if your browser is not closed) when the time limit is reached, even if you have not completed all assessment questions

  • When time expires, any questions that were unanswered will be submitted for grading

ANSWERS ARE FINAL

Parents, please be reminded that online tests cannot be changed.  Thus, the answers that are marked and then submitted are the only answers that will be scored.  Teachers will not change an answer once an assessment is submitted.

Students should be very careful in marking their answers AND should always review the test before submitting the assessment.

PLEASE NOTE, IF A STUDENT IS SCROLLING WITH A MOUSE DURING A TEST, MAKE SURE THEY CLICK OUT OF A MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION BEFORE CONTINUING. IF THEY ARE STILL CLICKED IN AN ANSWER, THE SCROLLING MAY CHANGE THEIR ANSWER.
