NOVEMBER 2021 CONNECTIONS

Happy November! Keep reading to learn what is new for November 2021!

We are excited to announce that we will be able to host some face to face field trips this year! We will also continue some virtual field trips because of their amazing success last year! See below for the confirmed field trips for November:

Ledgeview Caves - Chilton: November 3, 2021

Cost: $6 per person. Children under 3 are free but not allowed in the Cave tour.

Registration Deadline: The deadline for registration and payment was Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Due to sign-up restrictions, we were asked to block 45 tickets. Students will be organized by grade level (hopefully filling 3 groups of 15)

Eric Carle Makes a Book - VIRTUAL: November 10, 2021

Cost: Free

Registration Deadline: Please email Lisa Graf Miller if you are interested. Suggested grade level: 4K-4th

Pilgrims of Plymouth (Thanksgiving) - VIRTUAL: November 15, 2021

Cost: Free

Registration Deadline: Please email Lisa Graf Miller if you are interested. Suggested grade level: All grade levels

Alexander Hamilton: Learn about him - VIRTUAL: November 18, 2021

Cost: Free

Registration Deadline: Please email Lisa Graf Miller if you are interested. Suggested grade level: 6th-12th

THANKSGIVING BREAK: There will be no virtual classes the week of November 22. Thanksgiving Break for students is Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26. The staff will not be available during Thanksgiving Break.

CIVICS EXAMINATION: Beginning with the graduating class of 2016-17, a high school diploma may not be granted in Wisconsin until a student has completed and passed the United States Citizenship Test. Click here for more info: CIVICS EXAM

VIRTUAL CLASSES: All WCA students are required to participate in virtual classes. PROGRESS REPORTS: Teachers will take a snapshot of the grade book on Monday, November 8 for progress reports. Progress reports with comments will be available at the end of the day on Friday, November 12. You can access the progress report by going to your child’s grade book -> Click on the link dated November 8, 2021 on the right hand side of the screen. Please keep in mind that the grades shown on this progress report can be misleading. Your child may well have an “A” in a class. However, this “A” may be based on only 1 or 2 assessments that they have turned in so far, when really 8 or 9 assessments should be turned in according to the planner. Some teachers may put in temporary zeros to give you a more accurate picture of your student’s grade. If you have any questions, be sure to contact your child’s WCA teacher.

SAVE YOUR MATH WORK!: In order to better assist your child in math, it is helpful for the teachers to view the daily math work. Therefore, all daily work will need to be submitted to the teacher at the end of each unit. If all the daily work is received, full credit will be awarded.
